**Review of the Audio Book**Description:
The Longing is the story of Kyle Grayson and Amelia Drake, who have both been hurt in the past by people they loved. They are forced to marry and now they have to learn to trust each other with their secrets and their hearts.
The Set-Up:
Kyle Grayson is the middle Grayson brother who has run the family mill since his father died. He lost the woman he thought he was going to marry to his brother, so he is (understandably) very cranky and pretty cynical about love. Amelia Drake is the daughter of a mill owner and when she was young she was seduced and abandoned by a man who she thought loved her and wanted to marry her. Now she’s decided to stay a spinster school teacher because no man would want a wife who isn’t a virgin. Due to some unfortunate circumstances, Kyle and Amelia must marry and that’s where the story really takes off.
What I liked:
Kyle and Amelia are really interesting, complicated characters who both have A LOT of baggage. Kyle is not a particularly likeable character in the first book, so it was really great to see him transform over the course of the book, not just in his relationship with Amelia, but also with his brothers. I liked Amelia’s sassiness and sense of humor. This books had a lot of humor which was a pleasant surprise.
What I Also Liked:
There was a bit of a mystery in this story, which I thought added to the book and helped Kyle and Amelia build their relationship and learn to work together.
What I didn’t Like:
The hero and heroine keeping secrets from each other is not my favorite plot device. I just wanted them to talk to each other! There were so many secrets, it got a little frustrating, but even after saying all that it does make for a compelling read!
I listened to the audio version of this book and I thought the narrator (Julia Motyka) did an excellent job portraying all the different characters and conveying the emotion and humor needed for this story. She's a narrator I'd definitely listen to again!
If you’re looking for a well-written, compelling historical romance (when are those secrets going to come out!?!?), with complex characters with a lot of baggage but also sass and humor and occasional crankiness, then I highly recommend this story!
I was offered a copy of the audio book by the author in exchange for an honest review.

The Longing Grayson Brothers Book 2 edition by Wendy Lindstrom Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I've read three books in this series and they are quick enjoyable reads. In this episode, (it is a bit like a soap opera), Kyle Grayson and Amelia Drake have to navigate the messy terrain of past secrets and former loves. Amelia is a bit of a hypocrite given her own indiscretions, and Kyle is pretty buttoned up with his emotions, and you want to shake some sense into both of them, but it all works out in the end.
I liked the depth of the characters. Kyle and Amelia were good to and respectful of each other even though they were not in love when they married. Their relationship growing into love was sweet. I like the Grayson family and have enjoyed all the Grayson books. I wasn't ready for this one to end.
This is a darkly emotional romance. The main characters are so conflicted and in so much pain, it was sometimes difficult to read. But Lindstom manages to bring all the pieces together for the HEA. Kyle, the Greyson brother thrown over in the first book of the series, finally finds love here. If you like grief and conflicted emotions in your romance, this is for you. Although the love story is always in the forefront, I would have liked to have a bit more romance before the end. Still a good series and I plan to continue it.
I'm really enjoying the Grayson family! This second book is Kyle's story. In the first book he is brokenhearted when his fiance marries his brother, so I was very curious to find out what would happen to him next. I really enjoyed how the plot unfolded slowly but surely. There are a lot of obstacles and miscommunications to overcome, which became frustrating at times, but it definitely held my attention. I loved how vulnerable Kyle was in trying to seduce his wife. The lighter and more humorous moments were fun and I also liked when the passion heated up. I am looking forward to the next book in the Grayson lineup!
This is just the second in the series but I feel like I know the Grayson family very well. I fell in love with Kyle at the cave. Kyle may not be good with words but that is his only real flaw. He tries to be as honest as possible and he is such an honorable man. It was good to see that he also had a good sense of humor and knew how to enjoy himself. Amelia was a wonderful match for him. I didn't really like the way they ended up getting married. I would rather Kyle have been the one to suggest it. I think I enjoyed this book more than the first one and now I'm about to read Boyd's story!
Kyle Grayson is still mending his broken heart after the betrayal of his brother and his fiancée. He wants no part in a relationship ever again. At least that's what he keeps telling himself, even as his misjudgment lends him at the altar. Amelia Drake's life went from bad to worst in the blink of an eye. Her father is now dead, her reputation is shattered and her job security is gone. How is she going to care for herself and her mother? Inches from losing everything, she turns to Kyle as her last hope at redemption. The attraction and desire between them is thick, but their secrets keep a strong barrier between them. As the mystery of her father's bankruptcy comes to light, Amelia and Kyle discover that family always comes first. Even as they fall in love with each other, each secret threatens to tear them apart. The second Grayson Brother story is a classic. The century past life in New York State, the rules of conduct, the honor among men, the meaning of a marriage promise, all are brought to life in the beautiful tale.
The part can haunt a person and change what they want. You should learn from your part but live for today and the future. Amelia and Kyle are haunted by their past that they can't let go off. In their rocky road to life they have each let their part dictate who they are and bury their true self. But with the love of family and trust in each other they learn this lesson the hard way. Great characters, dynamic plot, and great writing give this story so much.
